For 30 years I have primarily devoted my philanthropic passions to helping athletes from all backgrounds realize their fullest potential in life by using my professional and personal resources and gifts to connect them to unique experiences and wise counsel. At the heart of this work has always been the most vulnerable young men—inner city gifted athletes. While Individuals have attempted to capitalize off of their physical talents and the notoriety this brings, my family and I have been blessed to be around some of the most talented athletes of the past 3 decades in high school, college and the pros, shield them from sharks, and help them to realize not only their athletic potential, but also help them to become extremely amazing human beings, college graduates, great citizens, great husbands and fathers, businessmen, and future leaders.

Attorney Jason E. Payne is a native of Port Arthur, Texas who attended University of Houston and earned a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. While attending the University of Houston, Mr. Payne interned in the offices of State Representative Garnet Coleman and then State Representative Sylvester Turner. After graduating from the University of Houston in 1999, Mr. Payne attended law school at the University of Houston Law Center. While at the University of Houston Law Center, Mr. Payne was a member of the law school’s Interscholastic Mock Trial Team. Mr. Payne graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2002 and later attended Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois, where he received his Master of Business Administration degree in 2011.

After graduating from the University of Houston Law Center, Mr. Payne began practicing law at the prestigious law firm of Hays, McConn, Rice & Pickering, P.C. Mr. Payne resigned from his position at Hays, McConn, Rice & Pickering, P.C. in 2004 and founded, Payne Law Firm, P.C., in Houston, Texas. Mr. Payne’s legal practice primarily consists of personal injury and wrongful death matter, and Mr. Payne has also represented a number of Fortune 500 clients. Mr. Payne is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and the State of New York, and is a Board Certified Personal Injury Trial Attorney. Texas Super Lawyer Magazine has also selected Mr. Payne as a Rising Star for many of its publications as well as a Super Lawyer in 2019. In addition to his legal career, Mr. Payne has successfully advised countless small business and served as a political consultant to elected officials.

Mr. Payne is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and a member of Texas Boys State. Mr. Payne is married to Erica Payne and they reside in Houston, Texas along with their three children Paige, Elise, and Elijah.

Colton Cockerell is a financial advisor for Sharer McKinley Group, LLC. His passion is working with people and assisting them in reaching their financial goals through fiduciary, prudent investment advisory services and strategies. Since joining the Sharer McKinley team, his role as an investment advisor is focused on the design and implementation of retirement plans for his trusted clients. He also works closely with younger families advising on the importance of saving for college through tax-advantaged investments.

Cockerell began his financial career working as Director of Operations with Sharer McKinley Group, LLC in 2013. While in this role, he was responsible for servicing and communicating with many diverse clientele. Because of this, he was able to learn, grow and develop the skills necessary to perform each task at a high level while understanding the importance of giving every client the time and attention necessary to achieve all of their pre and post retirement goals.

Cockerell is a graduate of the University of Houston – Clear Lake with a degree in Finance. Outside of the office, he volunteers at Bay Area Church in the worship and youth ministries and enjoys golfing, hiking and being outdoors.
