Name, image, and likeness.
NIL stands for name, image, and likeness. The NCAA's new interim policy now allows collegiate student-athletes to use their name, image, and likeness for commercial and promotional opportunities without losing their eligibility. NIL is also sometimes known as the right of publicity.
NIL is opening doors of opportunity for student-athletes to own their names and to rightfully capitalize off of their likeness and talents. Our firm’s mission is to encircle athletes with a team of skilled, dedicated and caring professionals in all aspects of business and life to assist in navigating the deep waters of financial independence. While some individuals have made a living by surviving off of athletes, our firm takes the approach of empowering athletes with knowledge, resources, and assistants with the goal of securing a future for the athlete and his/her family.
Effective July 1, 2021, NCAA rules and Texas state law permit student-athletes to engage in all of the following NIL activities:
Receive compensation from a business to use the student-athlete’s NIL to promote their product or service;
Use their own NIL to promote their own business or to promote a business that employs the student-athlete;
Receive compensation to sign autographs or appear at a business or private event; and/or
Utilize a representative to assist with any NIL activities, provided the student-athlete has a written agreement with the representative that is specific to NIL activities and not for sport-related representation.
